How does Invisalign work?

During your consultation, we will review your lifestyle, preferences, and budget to determine if Invisalign is the right choice for you. Then, impressions of your teeth will be taken so that your first set of custom clear aligners can be designed. After a few weeks, you’ll visit our office again to try on your first clear aligner and ensure it fits properly. Patients should then wear their clear aligners as often as possible, or at least 20 to 22 hours per day. Periodic orthodontic appointments will be needed so we can track your progress and provide you with the next set of aligners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Invisalign painful?

Even if you underwent orthodontic treatment in the past, your teeth are likely not used to being shifted anymore. Many patients experience some discomfort or pain when they first begin wearing clear aligners, but fortunately, there are steps you can take to help prevent and reduce the soreness.

How do you keep Invisalign aligners clean?

Patients should brush their clear aligners with a soft-bristle toothbrush and mild soap or Invisalign cleaner at least once per day to keep their aligners clear and discreet. It’s important to brush your teeth or at least rinse out your mouth after eating and before putting the aligners back in.

Can you eat while wearing Invisalign aligners?

Patients should never eat while wearing their clear aligners. Food and dark-colored drinks can stain aligners, and they can become damaged from chewing. Fortunately, there are no food restrictions that patients have to worry about with Invisalign; simply remove your aligners, and then you can enjoy any foods you’d like!

Can Invisalign aligners only be worn at night?

Invisalign aligners need to be worn as often as possible to keep the patient’s treatment plan on track. Invisalign is able to boast such quick and efficient treatment times because their aligners are able to shift teeth day and night.

Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is a good option for teens and adults who want a discreet and effective treatment.

How long does treatment take?

Invisalign treatment typically takes 12–18 months, but it can take longer depending on the complexity of your case.

How often should I wear my aligners?

What can I eat and drink with Invisalign?

You can eat whatever you want, but you should remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water.

How does Invisalign compare to braces?

Invisalign is faster than braces and doesn’t require wires or brackets. You can also continue to eat your favorite foods while wearing Invisalign.

How much does Invisalign cost?
